Il se pr\u00e9sente comme une forteresse typique de la p\u00e9riode des Sforza, avec une structure en forme de figure g\u00e9om\u00e9trique r\u00e9duite \u00e0 l&rsquo;essentiel. En effet, l&rsquo;ouvrage a des lignes simples : de plan carr\u00e9, il renferme une petite cour, des b\u00e2timents, deux tours d&rsquo;angle &#8211; le donjon et la tour de guet &#8211; et un chemin de ronde cr\u00e9nel\u00e9. Contrairement aux autres fortifications de Bellinzone, regroup\u00e9es \u00e0 la fin du Moyen \u00c2ge en un seul syst\u00e8me, le manoir se pr\u00e9sente comme un ensemble unique et d\u00e9cousu, isol\u00e9 de tous les c\u00f4t\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Le ch\u00e2teau de Sasso Corbaro est \u00e9galement le seul des trois manoirs de Bellinzone dont on connaisse la date exacte du d\u00e9but des travaux de construction. Bien que la pr\u00e9sence d&rsquo;une tour de contr\u00f4le et d&rsquo;observation du territoire soit attest\u00e9e depuis la fin du XIVe si\u00e8cle, ce n&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;au cours des premiers mois de l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e 1479 que d\u00e9but\u00e8rent les travaux de construction du ch\u00e2teau tel qu&rsquo;on peut encore le voir aujourd&rsquo;hui. Le ch\u00e2teau \u00e9tait destin\u00e9 \u00e0 contrer les incursions de plus en plus incisives des arm\u00e9es conf\u00e9d\u00e9r\u00e9es dans la campagne de Bellinzone, sa construction fut donc men\u00e9e tambour battant &#8211; sur ordre du duc &#8211; par le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre architecte florentin Benedetto Ferrini, qui mourut de la peste \u00e0 l&rsquo;automne de la m\u00eame ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Les travaux furent ensuite achev\u00e9s par l&rsquo;ing\u00e9nieur ducal Gabriele Ghiringhelli.<br \/>\nOutre sa fonction d\u00e9fensive principale, le ch\u00e2teau de Sasso Corbaro servait \u00e9galement de prison et fut l&rsquo;objet d&rsquo;une \u00e9vasion en 1494 document\u00e9e.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=\u00a0\u00bb1\/3&Prime;
