Bellinzona Castles & GO – the most medieval race on earth
Bellinzona Castles & GO is a unique running event that combines sport, culture and exploration of the local area. The event offers two 11-kilometre routes – a competitive race and a non-competitive walk (walking/Nordic walking) – suitable for everyone and set against a backdrop of stunning scenery.
The route traverses the entire UNESCO-listed Fortress of Bellinzona, passing through the three medieval castles — Castel Grande, Castello di Montebello and Castello di Sasso Corbaro — and taking in the historic centre, picturesque neighbourhoods and scenic hills. An immersive experience that combines landscape, history and architecture in a single route.
The event takes place on the last Sunday in May and is preceded, on the Saturday, by “MOVE & GO!”, a day open to all featuring sporting activities, social gatherings and entertainment in Piazza del Sole.
