MIND THE GAP – TIME-TRAVELLING BETWEEN ANALOGUE AND VIRTUAL WORLDS
Sabine Hertig x Dirk Koy – Time-travelling between analogue and virtual worlds
A boundless playground opens up between analogue realities and digital worlds, between tangible urban environments and their virtual counterparts. Sabine Hertig and Dirk Koy will first guide us through the physical exhibition space at Castel Grande before leading us seamlessly intoExhibition³ — a virtual architectural space that is not merely a backdrop, but an active participant in their artistic inquiry, where visual narratives loop and beginnings and endings blur.
A boundless playground opens up between analogue realities and digital worlds, between tangible urban environments and their virtual counterparts. Within this wormhole, Sabine Hertig and Dirk Koy invite us on a journey through time and space, blending moments of clarity and bursts of abstraction. A mise en abîme, where images and experiences continuously echo, refract, and transform.
While the two artists employ distinctly different tools — one working with physical material sand the other with digital processes — they converge in their exploration of how these realms intersect. Drawn to the creative possibilities hidden within the gaps, they shift from observers to creators, researching the delicate balance between fragments and the whole, borders and fluidity.
From stones to pixels, Sabine and Dirk will walk us through the physical exhibition space in Castle Grande before guiding us seamlessly into the virtual building of their collaborative artwork Exhibition³. A virtual architectural space that is not merely a backdrop but an active participant in their artistic inquiry, harmonising visual narratives into loops that blur beginnings and endings.
Shown to the public for the first time as part of the exhibition at Castel Grande, Exhibition³ was created with the support of Fachausschuss Film und Medienkunst BS/BL, Ernst Göhner Stiftung, and GGG Basel.
