World Heritage Days

On the occasion of the World Heritage Days, the Fortress of Bellinzona opens its doors for a full day of history, culture, and entertainment for the whole family. For this special event, visitors can explore the Castles for free.

Castelgrande

Concerts by the music school of the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana as part of the “Musical Walk” and the 40th Jubilee of Villa dei Cedri.

Time: from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Montebello Castle

Medieval entertainment, Sword in the Fortress

Castle’s outer lawn:

  • 11:00 AM – Parade of groups and event presentation
  • 1:00 PM – Demonstration of the gentle Italic sword with the Fortress’s swordsmen
  • 2:30 PM – Medieval joust: circus-style show with horses
  • 3:15 PM – Suedalp sword fighting
  • 4:00 PM – Theatrical performance Barbarossa in Bellinzona with the Brigand of Monte Ceneri, the Negroamanti, Alberto Palavicino’s company, the Suedalp, and the Knights of the Sword
  • 4:45 PM – Sword show with the Fortress’s swordsmen
  • 5:00 PM – Suedalp combat with armored fighters
  • 6:00 PM – Medieval joust: circus-style show with horses

 

Inside the Castle:

  • 1:30 PM & 3:00 PM – Storytelling by Madame Violante in search of the “magic slipper”

Ongoing activities inside the castle include archery, children’s activities, music, fortune tellers, merchants, and medieval market stalls.

Sasso Corbaro Castle

Concert offered by 753 ArteBellezza with the duo Iter Vocis, European representatives of the Lugano Conservatory of Chamber Music.
