7th Day of Swiss Castles

EAT! ESSEN! MANGER!
The 7th Day of Swiss Castles will take place on 2 October in all 28 castles in Switzerland, which will be hosting various events.

THE FORTRESS OF BELLINZONA
The palates of yesterday and today
What did people eat in the canton of Ticino one hundred, two hundred, or even seven hundred years ago?
Can the paintings on the wooden panels of the Cervia’s fifteenth-century ceiling also tell us about the dishes that were served at the banquets of the illustrious Ghiringhelli and Muggiasca families in Bellinzona?
And what gastronomic mysteries related to nature are revealed to us by the surrealist paintings of the 20th-century painter Max Läubli?
To find out the answers to these questions, you’ll have to go to Bellinzona on 2 October, 2022: the Swiss Day of Castles, dedicated to the theme of gastronomy this year.
For the occasion, two guided tour experiences are being offered at Castel Grande and Sasso Corbaro, focusing on the Renaissance work on the ceiling of the Cervia and the monographic exhibition “La vita” by the artist Max Läubli.
In addition, there are also guided tours and archaeological workshops by the Ticino Archaeological Association on the topic of cooking in antiquity, as part of the new Archaeology Montebello exhibition itinerary and an interesting conference on medieval and Renaissance cuisine by Professor Bruno Laurioux.
