The Fortress of Bellinzona has been chosen as one of the locations for the filming of Travis Scott’s music video “When I’m Home”, the soundtrack created to mark the release of “Odyssey”, Christopher Nolan’s new film.
The project brought a number of leading figures from the international film and music industries to Bellinzona, transforming the fortified complex into a film set for a production aimed at a global audience.
The Fortress as a film location
Filming took place at a number of iconic locations, including the entrance area to the Castel Grande lift tunnel and part of the arena.
The spaces, architecture and atmosphere of the Fortress thus provided the backdrop for a production that combines music and cinema, helping to promote Bellinzona’s image beyond national borders. The music video features Travis Scott, James Blake and Ludwig Göransson, leading figures on the international music scene.
A collaborative project
The filming was made possible within a very tight timeframe thanks to the collaboration between numerous local organisations and professionals. This teamwork involved the Ticino Film Commission, Ticino Tourism, Bellinzona and Valli Tourism and the City of Bellinzona, together with AM Production.
The synergy between institutions, tourism organisations, professionals and local organisations made it possible to host an international production and to showcase Bellinzona’s unique characteristics as both a destination and a film location.
Bellinzona in the international spotlight
The inclusion of the Fortezza in the music video represents a significant opportunity for international visibility.
The walls, spaces and landscapes of the Fortezza have become part of a project aimed at a global audience, offering a new perspective on one of the region’s most iconic sites. This is yet another example of the appeal and versatility of the Fortezza’s historical and architectural heritage.
